If you would like to get more traffic for your blog, getting higher SERPs for your post titles, you have to optimize your blog. All this does not happen overnight or does not happen by magic. This blog get 70% of it’s traffic mainly from search engines and has been maintaining it’s ranking for couple of months. Below are the steps i take to optimize my blog for search engines.
Installing the plugins
After you installed wordpress, install the 2 plugins called google sitemap generator and all in one seo pack. Activate them from the plugin manager.
Configuring the plugins
Many people just download the plugin, activate and that’s it. That’s the wrong way! You have to make tweakings to it to maximise the potential of the plugins.
All in one seo pack
Take away all the blog titles and save it. Look at the below screenshot.
Google sitemap generator
Build your sitemaps and create a link to your sitemap at your theme footer. As for the priorities, i still have not figure out the actual way it works. Below is the priorities i used for this blog.
Configure your permalinks
This is a really important step. Change your default permalink to /%postname%/
Build quality backlinks to your blog
This step is a must. You need to build alot of one way backlinks to your blog. This will help to increase your SERPs in search engines. I know this is a tiring process but think of it like a long term investment. You could get manual submission services if you don’t want to do it personally and is as lazy as me.
Choosing/making the correct wordpress design
Beside all of off page factors in SEO, on page factors affects as well. This is where the web designers come about. Factors such as using h3 for post titles, using just one h1 tag in one page, alt tag for images etc. Check out domaintools.com, they have an seo browser.
Yeah, i hope this will be a useful post to all the new webmasters out there.

What is Social Bookmarking
Social bookmarking is a media (called social media sites) for Internet visitors and webmasters to save, organize, search, and manage bookmarked pages on the web using metadata.
In this system of social bookmarking, users of social media sites save their favorite links they want to easily remember and/or share. All of these bookmarks are usually made public with an option to save them privately. The allowed group of people can then view these bookmarks chronologically, searching by category or tags, or even through a search engine like Google..
Why is Social Bookmarking important to Webmasters
Since search engines crawl these public bookmarks, webmasters can use these sites to bookmark their page and get backlinks. There are thousands of social bookmarking site where you can submit your site or story pages to. Some social media sites like Digg, Stumble Upon requires users to register before they can submit any story or save any bookmarks. More bookmarking site you save your bookmarks, more backlinks you get.
Social bookmarking also can bring traffic to webmasters. When internet users use these bookmarking sites, they visit sites that interest them. If you have a site with good content that will interest the visitors, they will visit your site and bring you traffic.

If you find that you need more bookmarks then you can get for yourself, you can always seek the help of professional social bookmarking submission servicvices.

Hey everyone, I’m David Koh from Drett.com and I am a guest blogger here for today. Well, today I want to talk about the benefits of leaving comments on other blogs.
Before I start, I want to clarify any wrong ideas you have about the whole “Leaving comments on other blogs” concept. First of all, when I said leaving comments I meant leaving constructive and comments which add value back into the post instead of the much dreaded spammy comments. You may be tempted to leave comments randomly and in a spammy manner, but please don’t. Bloggers like me have already lots of problems with comment spam and do not need more spammers to come into the world. Besides, spammy comments reflect negatively on your blog and might actually backfire.
So let me begin.
Leaving quality comments on other blogs brings a whole lot of benefits and advantages to you as a blogger. Below are some of the advantages but remember, these the benefits of leaving comments on other blogs are not just limited to the few which I’m going to mention and talk about:
The most obvious benefit of leaving a comment on another blog is that you get a free one way backlink (Well, you obviously only get it if you fill up the website field or leave a link the comments). It doesn’t really matter whether the blog is a no-follow blog or a do-follow blog, you still get a one backlink to your site. These kind of one backlinks are extremely prized and valuable to a webmaster. Yes I know, no-follow links don’t contribute to PageRank, but is blogging really all about PageRank? Think about it. Besides, no-follow tags only stops from spreading the PageRank to your site but doesn’t hinder other people to click on it or getting indexed by seach engines, giving you free traffic and bringing you to my next point.
As I mentioned above, by leaving comments you get a free backlink, and these backlinks helps to bring in a few visitors to your site. Traffic that comes in like this is usually very little and might be negligible if your blog has already a lot of traffic but if your site is relatively new this is a good way to help bring in traffic. One thing I noticed about these kind of method to get traffic is that the more controversial your comment is, the higher the change people will visit your site.
This method of bringing is good for bringing in a few extra visitors and nothing more, but the keyword here is extra visitors.
Whenever you leave quality comments that add value or more insight into post, you’ll slowly but surely building up your reputation as a blogger. These comments can be those really short and low quality comments such as “I really like your post”, these kind of comments have to actually add content or fill up a void in the bloggers post.
Take this post for example, if I left out any points or advantages that you feel is very prominent, you could leave a comment with the extra point and elaborate on it. Furthermore, if you have written a post on your blog about it, you could actually leave a link to your post. This gives you reputation as someone who “knows it” and gives you another free backlink and even more traffic.
Believe it or not, by leaving comments on other blogs you are actually building up a partnership between you and the other blogger. Obviously if you only leave a comment on a blog you won’t be building up anything, but if you are a long time reader and commenter, the blogger will eventually notice you and thus friendship would be born.
If you share the same interests as the blogger, friendship could eventually become partnership as you and the blogger start doing projects with each other. The internet is a big world – having a partner and someone who helps you and gives you guidance is invaluable. Seriously.
Well, I have come to an end about the benefits of leaving comments on other blogs. I hope you enjoyed it. If you do have any other benefits that I did not point out, please be so kind as to leave a comment below. How can you possible resist not to comment here after reading all about the benefits of leaving comments ?
And I would like to end with thanks for Derek letting me be a guest blogger here, it’s really an honour writing here. And if you want, please do check out my site at Drett.com or sign up to my RSS feed.
